There’s been a set back for a local man in need of a kidney transplant.
Tiana Holder who has been organizing a benefit for 54-year old Richard Migwans and trying to raise funds says a potential donor has suddenly had a change of heart and no longer wants to be a donor.
Holder says Richard also known as ‘Chief’ was diagnosed with kidney failure a year ago.
Despite the setback, they are still planning to go ahead with the benefit on November 29th at the Delta and they are looking for a new donor.

Original story…

One heroic deed led to another for a 54-year old local man who is in desperate need of a kidney transplant.
Richard Migwans is known as ‘Chief’ and one year ago was diagnosed with kidney failure.
A local potential donor who wishes to remain anonymous had an earlier connection with Migwans during a crisis.
It was 16-years ago, that ‘Chief’ a former security guard with Sault Transit, assisted the donor’s family during a house fire when the donor was a very young girl.
That young girl is now 28-years old and when she contacted the ‘Chief’ she said, you saved my life now let me save yours.
A good friend of Richard’s is Tiana Holder who has organized both a GoFundMePage campaign and a benefit for later this month which will help to pay for surgery related expenses in Toronto for up to 3 months…

Tiana says they are hoping to raise 20-thousand dollars through both the GoFundMePage campaign and the benefit…

The benefit for Richard will be held at the Delta on November 29th and the ‘Chief’ is hoping for a surgery date before Christmas.

Tiana will be selling tickets for the benefit on Saturday from noon to 4pm at the office of Save Our Young Adults at 24 Queen Street east which is accessed at the rear of the building facing Albert Street.
