A second staff member at the F.J. Davey Home has tested positive for COVID-19 and Algoma Public Health has declared an outbreak at the local long-term care facility.
In an update provided on the F.J. Davey website, Executive Director Connie Lee says a second positive COVID-19 test result was found during their staff surveillance testing and they are required to put two units into outbreak status.  The staff member was tested on September 16th and is now self isolating.
Lee says that all the swab results from all other staff members were returned negative and at this time, none of their residents are COVID-19 positive or showing any symptoms.
Lee says as they gather more information on this situation, they will reassess and plan to ensure an appropriate response and will provide more details on how this situation will impact the residents.
This latest case was our district’s 31st positive test and follows Friday’s 30th positive case also involving a staff member at the Davey Home.
